MISSION
Kaatsbaan Ballet Intensive is a unique training program designed for young dancers between the ages of 13 and 18 to develop exceptional technical skills, artistic refinement and a sophisticated approach to repertoire, with the ultimate goal of preparing attendees for a career in the arts.
THE PROGRAM
Kaatsbaan Ballet Intensive (KBI) is a world-class ballet program nestled in the heart of the picturesque Hudson Valley. Our intensive ballet program offers aspiring dancers a unique and enriching experience, combining exceptional training, a stunning natural setting, and renowned faculty to nurture their artistic growth.
Along with KBI Artistic Director Paloma Herrera, faculty and guest teachers include Kaatsbaan co-founders Martine van Hamel, Kevin McKenzie, along with Beth Ferrell, Luciana Paris, and Adrienne Schulte, as well as returning KBI teacher Lorin Mathis and choreographers Gemma Bond, Calvin Hilpert, Jessica Lang and Maria Konrad and guest artists Stella Abrera, Lauren Anderson, Leanne Benjamin and Megan Fairchild.
Our program consists of esteemed faculty who have graced the stages of prestigious companies worldwide. Dancers will receive personalized instruction and guidance from experts who are committed to helping them reach their full potential.
Situated on 153 acres of rolling countryside, Kaatsbaan is a sanctuary for artists seeking inspiration and tranquility. Our campus offers an idyllic environment for focused practice and relaxation.
Dancers will have access to world-class dance studios equipped with sprung floors, large windows, barres, and mirrors, creating an optimal learning environment.
Kaatsbaan offers options for either onsite boarding (limited availability) as well as day students in the beautiful Hudson Valley in Upstate New York.
Joining the Kaatsbaan Ballet Intensive means becoming a part of a vibrant artistic community. You'll have the chance to interact with fellow dancers, choreographers, and visiting artists, creating lasting connections in the dance world.

ELIGIBILITY
You must be between the ages of 13 and 18 during the KBI.
be available for the entire session you sign up for.
be fully immunized according to the NYS Immunization Requirements for School
Attendanceare urged to be up to date on COVID-19 immunization as defined by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control.
a minimum of 2 years of prior training in pointe work required
AUDItions
Dancers can audition in two different ways.
Live auditions are being held in NYC and at Kaatsbaan in Tivoli.
Dancers may also submit a video audition.
You must audition in order to be considered for a placement into Kaatsbaan Ballet Intensive. Students may only audition once each year. Online pre-registration is required for all auditions. Registration opens on November 1, 2024.
Dancers who have participated in past Kaatsbaan Ballet Intensives must audition. Past participation does not guarantee you a place in KBI.
