Statement
I grew up in Manhattan and my early sculptures were influenced by the architecture of NYC. When looking down the great canyons of the city streets, parks and rivers can be experienced in my work from the 1980–1990's. The environment of NYC has continued the cultural explosion of the all the arts. This is especially true in the art of the sculpture. I moved out of the city at the age of 35—first to rural Pennsylvania and then to the Catskill Mountains. I built large studios in each location. In these expansive studios, I was able to create large and small pieces. Once again, my work was influenced by the dramatic views from my studio in upstate New York. This can be seen in my sculpture Wind on display at Kaatsbaan. My hope is that many will be able to enjoy it.
