Statement
These sculptures are inspired by my reading C.G.Jung’s “The Structure and Dynamics of the Psyche.” In his work, Jung describes how the Psyche is fragile and easily fractures and reforms in its adaptation to environmental change, through adopting a new attitude…a renewed sense of unity of self. I began this work by finding rocks in the woods that were fragmented. Working with wire, I bind them back together, running the wire both between and around the fragments. I think of these works as a meditation on identity through change and as a model for a complex of the psyche as described by Jung.
