Statement
The group of paintings I am showing at Kaatsbaan are shapes that are cut-out of Masonite or MDF.
About Ann Provan
Ann Provan grew up in Berkeley, California and at 17, moved to France where she lived for four years, studying at the Université de Montpellier and the École Nationale Supériure des Beaux Arts, in Paris. During this period, she traveled through France, Spain, and Italy looking at art. After returning to the U.S., she attended the San Francisco Art Institute and received an M.F.A. in Painting. She moved to New York City in the late 1970’s, living in SoHo and Brooklyn before moving to Cold Spring with her family in 2006.
Ann Provan’s work has been shown in New York City, including at the New Museum; A.I.R. Gallery; Franklin Furnace; the San Francisco Art Institute; the University of California, Davis; Rutgers University; Wake Forest University; Das Verborgene Museum, Berlin; Marina Gallery and Buster Levi Gallery in Cold Spring, NY; Lockwood Gallery in Kingston, NY; and at the Garrison Art Center in Garrison, NY, and other galleries in the U.S. and Europe. She has received a CAPs Grant and a NYFA fellowship. Her work is in the collection of the New York Museum of Modern Art, the Museum of the Art Institute of Chicago, Franklin Furnace, and other public and private collections. https://annprovan.com
